First Project of EWB-RUET, Bangladesh


Finally it is bring a good news that the funding is raised for the first project 'slum sanitary latrine ' which is designed by EWB-RUET(Engineers Without Borders-RUET). 

The fund is raised from Olivia Bennett, Secretary of ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers),Scotland and she is also helping to get the fund and finishing the project in better ways and Dr. Robert Hodgson, the Coordinator, Housing & Hazards Group College of Engineering, Mathematics & Physical Sciences University of Exeter is also with us.(http://www.housingandhazards.org)

As soon as possible it will be started working for this student based project on November,2014.One latrine will be constructed.

For the Co-ordination and guidance, Special thanks to Professor Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Head, Dept. of Urban and Regional Planning, RUET (http://urp.ruet.ac.bd), Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

Design:
*Pit design
*Super structure design.
*Ground water assessment (due to latrine is near the Padma river site)
*Flood risk assessment (due to latrine is near the Padma river site )

Project site:
Rajshahi, Ponchoboti slum, 24 No. ward Rajshahi,Bangladsh.


Volunteer profile:
Engineering, Architecture under graduate students and similarly motivated non-engineers.
Duration:Two week.


The interested engineering students who want to learn the handling practical project,doing practical works and applying developed appropriate technologies on the engineering section as a volunteer, they can contact as early as possible because limited volunteer can be permitted to join at this project.
